  • How durable is the finish?
VERY DURABLE! This is the same process used by major manufacturers in the outdoor and automotive industry. It is durable enough for the most vigorous of outdoor activities. We use all high grade materials. All of the parts are coated using an automotive urethane clearcoat after being dipped, providing durability as well as UV protection. The finish is as durable as your automotive paint finish.
  • Do I need to clean and disassemble my parts?
Yes, all parts need to be disassembled and cleaned. Uncleaned parts will be subject to additional charges. please remember we are not gunsmiths, all firearms or bows need to be disassembled prior to shipment. PLEASE ONLY SEND US THE PARTS YOU WANT DIPPED
  • Do you dip scopes?
Yes! we can dip your scope but we will require you to sign a letter indicating that you are aware and accept the possibility of the scope being damaged as we will be submerging it under water for a brief time. We cannot guarantee the workmanship of the scope and/or its ability to be waterproof.
  • How should I care for my parts after I receive them?
Your parts are now protected with a clearcoat, parts can be easily wiped down with an automotive quick detailer, or mild soap and water. There is no longer a need to use any sort of oil or solvents to clean or protect the finish.
  • How long will it take for me to get my parts?

  • What's the process like?
The process to apply hydrographics is pretty straight forward. It starts out with prepping the item, and then applying primer and basecoat. The customer’s choice of film is then cut to size and laid on the surface of the water in our water transfer printing tank and an activator is applied to the film. After a few seconds the film turns to liquid ink and floats on the surface of the water and allows us to dip the item slowly into the ink which wraps 360 degrees around an object.
The item is then dried, and an automotive grade clear-coat goes over the new finish to maximize durability. STEP 1: PICK YOUR PATTERN When picking your pattern, keep in mind many of our patterns have transparent parts that let the base color show through. Changing up the base color can give you a completely unique look. With so many different options, don’t get bogged down–just go with your instincts and have fun with it! STEP 2: PICK YOUR BASE COLOR Our standard base colors are: white, tan, fire engine red, navy blue, sapphire blue, brilliant green, candy pink, purple and black. If you’d like a base coat not listed, no worries. We can order whatever base color (or pattern) you would like. (extra charges may apply for special orders) STEP 3: PICK YOUR PARTS This last step is just deciding if you want your entire firearm dipped or just different parts. Once you’ve decided, bring your firearm (or other item) to the store and we’ll take care of the rest!
  • What is Cerakote?
Cerakote is a Polymer-Ceramic Composite coating that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Each of these properties is rigorously tested to guarantee that Cerakote products remain at the forefront of the ceramic coatings market. Cerakote ceramic coatings utilize state-of-the-art technology to out-perform any competitive coating in both labratory settings and real world applications. Cerakote can also be applied to engine components, ex. Mufflers, headers, exhaust pipes etc. We have a special Hi-temp Cerakote we use for these applications, that does not change colors or fade with extreme heat.
  • Is Cerakote really durable?
Absolutely. It won't chip, flake or scratch off. Tests have shown it more durable than traditional bluing, parkerizing or other finishes. It goes on ultra-thin, and you can still read logos, serial numbers, etc stamped into the gun.
  • Will Cerakote restore the finish of an old gun?
Sure will. It makes an old tattered guns look amazing, and prevents any further deterioration. Cerakote won't restore metal that is pitted to a smooth finish, but with proper application, it will adhere fully and dramatically improve the appearance. As it is more durable than most other finishes, it will only improve the resilience of a cleaner model.
  • How is my gun prepared for Cerakoting?
First it must be fully disassembled--every spring, pin & lever. Next, all parts to be coated are soaked in acetone and then baked for hours to draw oil and impurities out of the pores of the metal. This process is then repeated, as many times as necessary, to insure all contaminants are removed. Then, they are sandblasted down to bare metal. Finally, they are hand sprayed with the Cerakote, and heat cured for several hours. Poof, done.
  • How long does Cerakoting take?
Short answer: 1 to 2 weeks from the time it gets to the shop. If you want to minimize the time, set a Cerakote appointment and let us know the color(s) you want (if you know ahead of time.) We keep about 30 colors in stock, and we are happy to order others, but they add about a week to the time. Also, mention that you want to minimize time when you set the appointment, and we'll get back to you with the best day to drop it off based on our Cerakote schedule that week, and your exact needs. Usually we Cerakote on Sunday/Monday, so need it in the shop by Thursday if we are doing the disassembling.
  • Do you have color samples?
Yes, we have actual painted samples of every color we have used to date, about 35 of them. We also have the Cerakote sample brochures in the store with more colors. We have also found the online color swatches to be fairly accurate.
  • Is the finish guaranteed?
We guarantee our work. We test each piece before it leaves, and if problems develop for any reason, we will re-do it. Understand that while Cerakote will hold up to hard use, it is not magic. You will see wear over time in the same places that you would see wear on any firearm finish--on moving parts (e.g. slide to frame,) holster wear, etc. To date, we have never had an item returned for re-coating.
  • Will it change the function of my gun in any way?
Nope, not at all. One point to note is that while the Cerakote is a very thin layer, moving parts in tight tolerance may "stick" a little until they are worked a bit. If we re-assemble the firearm in the shop, we do this as part of our process. If you re-assemble it at home, your best bet is to put a box or two rounds through it to break all the parts back in. Of course, if that doesn't do the trick, give us a call or bring it back in and we'll happily make it right..
  • How do I care for my firearm?
The same way you did before it was Cerakoted. It requires no special care.
  • How durable is DuraCoat?
DuraCoat is permanent. With normal use, a firearm finished with DuraCoat will last several lifetimes.
  • What is DuraCoat?
DuraCoat is a two part chemical coating. Unlike other firearm finishes, DuraCoat was created specifically for firearms. Other firearm finishes are "spin-off's" from other industries.
  • Is DuraCoat Teflon based?
No. Teflon is a lubricating coating which is great for internals, but will not wear as well as DuraCoat on the exterior surface of a firearm. DuraCoat's combination of elasticity and hardness creates a finish impervious to impact, scratching and the elements. Some users say DuraCoat displays some lubricating qualities, but this phenomenon was never intended when DuraCoat was created.
